Imagine going to a see a humorous one-woman show, starring the famous screenwriter who brought us "Sleepless in Seattle" and "When Harry Met Sally". That's what listening to this audiobook was like. Ephron begins and ends with despair over the aging process - from the superficial (such as the sagging or otherwise distorted neck problem that afflicts all women over age 43) to the heartbreaking (the inevitable fact of death). In between, she shares her love for reading, New York City, and cooking. (Now I can why she chose to direct "Julie and Julia - an aspiring cook herself, she shares her past adulation of Julia Child, Craig Claiborne and Lee Bailey.) Ephron is funny and has many interesting stories, beginning with her childhood and continuing on through 3 marriages, several career changes, 2 big cities (NYC and Washington DC), 3 kids, and many different couches and apartments. My favorite stories were those relating her love of food and reading, because I really related with those. Ephron is the kind of lady you would love to have lunch with. And I have a feeling she would be doing most of the talking.
