An interesting, well written, and entertaining perspective written about socio-evolution. I felt it particularly highlighted the randomness and beauty of the development of modern human society in the broader context of evolution, while providing for an argument that we are much more a product of our surroundings than previously considered. Way better than the book of Genesis, too.

It took me about two years to read this book, as I really could not get into the war bits (typical of me) and would move on to something else for a period. Overall I enjoyed the book, though I found it confusing how Tolstey keeps on referring to the characters by different names (each one seems to have five). I also did not like the end of the book, where the otherwise romantic characters get old and fat and have obnoxious children.
