This book had the potential to be a fascinating commentary on university life in the 2000's. Instead, it read like a modern version of Sodom and Gomorrah. The fictional Dupont University is like a parent's worst nightmare. It has zero intellectual vitality and is filled with slutty girls, disgusting drunk guys, jocks that are literally mentally challenged and some of the most cringe-worthy sex scenes you will ever read. It also describes Charlotte's "cool" roommate as getting "lost in the music" as she listens to the stereo in their dorm room. The ballad she is lost in? A song by Britney Spears. Come now.

Wow, okay it book is probably next to the thickest with The Dark Tower book seven being the thickest. This book gives you so much back ground information that it somewhat overloads your mind. Without this book you could not understand how Roland's journey begins or for what reason. After reading this book, I refused to read anything dealing with The Dark Tower for at least 4-5 months. I was so exhausted after this book.
